Description
The transition to high-density pixel displays that began with smartphones and tablets has spread to the computer monitors. 4K PC screens appeared in 2014, and understanding pixel density has become important when choosing a product, along with screen size and resolution.
Display resolution of a computer monitor, tablet, laptop, smartphone or any other display device is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. High-density monitors or Retina monitors sold by Apple are generally recognized as having a physical pixel density greater than 200 pixels per inch. This means that they have twice the pixel density of a classic resolution computer monitor.
Along with monitor type, screen size, refresh rate, etc., monitor resolution is usually one of the first specifications considered when buying a new monitor. Monitor resolution describes the visual dimensions of a given screen. Expressed in width and height, the monitor resolution consists of a certain number of pixels.
In the case of a monitor with the industry standard Full HD 1080p resolution, this screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which means that the screen has a width of 1,920 pixels, while the height of the screen is 1,080 pixels. This results in a total of 2,073,600 pixels onthe screen.
